A mentor gives support, feedback, and advice that help a mentee navigate their career, usually at the early stages. Mentoring is particularly helpful at transition points like a first job, a recent promotion or after a parental leave.
A sponsor is someone of influence who works to promote a protégée that has shown potential. He or she works to directly influence the protégée’s career.
