We know that women in male-dominated careers face discrimination of varying types and severity. When we talk about engineering we usually think of licensed Professional Engineers, but this session focuses on Certified Engineer Technicians (C.E.T.) and Certified Engineering Technologists (C.Tech). Specifically, we’ll address the following:
Who are C.E.T.s and C.Tech.s?
These are trade professionals who must be certified by the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT). Without their skills and experience, engineering projects would grind to a halt.
What challenges do women in this field face?
We’ll start by providing some context, then look at challenges in physical environment, followed by an overview of the effects the work culture has on women’s mental and emotional wellbeing.
